Advanced Medical Program High School Students
About National Youth Leadership Forum: Advanced Medicine & Health Care

Focused Experiences for Tomorrow’s Professionals

NYLF Advanced Medicine & Health Care will expose you to a broad range of educational pathways and careers in health care as well as the skills and educational components you need to be successful in the field, giving you helpful insights as you make important decisions about your future in college, medical school, and beyond.

At this program, under the guidance of professional medical personnel, you’ll step into the shoes of a health care provider and begin to understand concepts and practices that are critical in the field.

At The George Washington University School of Nursing, you’ll practice measuring vital signs, learn about birthing procedures and common complications, plus interact with current nursing students as they share insights on numerous topics relevant to health care. You'll also learn about the cardiovascular system, aseptic techniques, venipuncture, and suturing, then engage in hands-on workshops and simulations with The Apprentice Doctor, such as taking a comprehensive medical history, analyzing how to make an accurate diagnosis, and following proper patient examination procedures.

NYLF Advanced Medicine & Health Care additionally offers you the unique opportunity to network with students from around the country who share your interests, can contribute to conversations about your futures in medicine, and may be your future colleagues one day.
